Peridot & Alterations

I love green and when I spotted this dress in a charity shop last year, I just had to have it. It has a pretty pattern on it and is a lovely floaty fabric. Unfortunately, it then went into my alterations pile - I wanted to take the length up and get rid of the flouncy sleeve bits...

As you can see, I ended up doing neither. I came across it in my alterations pile and decided to try it on to remind myself of what needed to be done. It is one of the few dresses that fits my upper body perfectly and I feel just lovely in it.  I still feel that it is a little too long (it does look better with heels however), but was assured by two others that it is the right length.
So I thought I'd ask here - Should I take it up a little? And what are your thoughts on those little sleeves??

On a side note, I got to wear my beautiful peridot necklace with it - it is one that my mother bought for me some time ago, that I keep forgetting about, so I was more than thrilled to get to display it. It is quite a hefty size, but still manages to look delicate and incredibly feminine. I hope to remember about it more and wear it often. :)

Not the clearest pic of the peridot, I will endeavour to take a closer one soon :)

I am still finding the outfit shots a little strange to do, but think I am getting better at posing. I am really enjoying it though and it is making me look at myself with a more open mind.  It is also helping me to see what really suits my shape. Mirrors can be deceiving devices sometimes! :)

  1. I would wear it a few more times before deciding whether to shorten it or not. The length looks good with the heels and it might not drape quite as well if you took it up. And I like the sleeves a lot!

  2. Good sound advice there Roisin. I think you're right. I will wear it a few more times and see how I feel about it.
It's quite amazing about the sleeves - last year I was dead set on removing them, but now I do think they are rather cute. I guess there is still a lingering doubt in my mind because I was so certain when I got the dress.
