Dressember Day 3

I thought I'd push the petticoat boat out a little farther today, so I wore two under one of my favourite dresses.

Fever Marilyn dress, black petticoat, teal petticoat (made by me), black top (for warmth) vintage belt, crochet earrings (made by me)

This pic is with the cardi and crochet brooch (again made by me) I was wearing sometimes today too

A different angle for a change :)

I used to wear this dress a lot, but it hasn't made it into my regular rotation for a while now - I just love wearing it with the petticoats too.

Sorry for the faces I am pulling in the photos, it was quite early and I was feeling all stuffed up with a cold.
I have no idea what I am going to wear tomorrow, but I am excited about deciding.
I won't be going to the clothes show tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see how dressed up I can be just wandering around Leam.

Dressember Day 2

Today was the first day of the Clothes Show Live and Day 2 of Dressember and I was excited about my outfit for the day. I love purple and I love dressing up!!

Fever Serang dress (thanks Roisin) (and hidden petticoat), vintage hat, half moon earrings from Krakow (and a top underneath again, as it is very very cold today)
Thanks to the lovely Roisin for taking the picture this morning at the train station.
I did have to think twice about wearing the dress hat, but thought that if I could be extravagent anywhere, it would be at the Clothes Show. And I was right, I fitted in fine - although I did get some looks on my way to the train station early this morning, and the people in the vestibule on the train home were probably wishing that I wasn't wearing a petticoat and taking up so much room...
A lady stopped me today and asked me where I got my dress too, which was nice! I can't remember the name of it (all of the Fever dresses have names), but I'm sure Roisin will know..

Here are a few more pics of me in the dress as I worked today at the show.

Dressember Day 1

So Day 1 of Dressember and I chose a dress I have only worn once. It's from Purple at Dorothy Perkins and it is a summer dress, so I layered it up with a long sleeved top and leggings.
I am wearing it with handmade filagree earrings, which you probably can't see in the pic and a big blue belt. I love the skirt of this dress, it is really twirly, so dancing this evening is going to fun!
I have had a few compliments about my outfit today too, which has been great, because I would have normally discounted this dress in my wardrobe because of the high neck (I'm not fond of dresses with really high necks) and summeryness.
Score!!

Also, my wonderful M got me a Christmas pressie yesterday, which I can wear already as it's cold. It's a beautiful new coat, it also twirls and is extremely cosy!! I am one happy lady!! :)

Dressember

Hello!! It's been a long time I realise, but I am back and hope that the challenge I have set myself will help me to blog more often!

So, this year I am participating in Dressember (I had meant to get involved, but had forgotten all about it, so thanks to Roisin for reminding me about it!) - a dress a day for the 31 days of December. The mission is: To wear a dress every day in December 2011, photograph it, upload it, and enjoy an online community to chart our journey. Spectators welcome. Maybe even raise a bit of cash for Action for Children.
It's a great charity and I am excited to be involved.
I pretty much wear dresses all of the time (except for when I go dancing - I have been wearing jeans more and more often for dancing and working from home), but it's usually the same few out of a huge collection, so my personal challenge will be to wear some of those that rarely see anything but the inside of my wardrobe. It'll be difficult to pack for 16 days away over Christmas, but I'm hoping I'll manage somehow! Skirts are allowed too, which is good, as I have quite a few that I haven't worn in a very long time!
So if you see me dressed up to the nines wandering around town buying groceries, you will know why. Please support me if you can!!

I'm really excited about being involved and am looking forward to my outfit planning for the next 31 days.

Until tomorrow!! x

A brighter afternoon

It was one of those mornings where everything gets to me and I get upset by the smallest things, but this afternoon has been much better.
Michael took me out for a hot chocolate, a slice of carrot cake AND a cannoli!! Lucky me, eh!
We then had a run around town to get some things that we needed, mainly washing powder and boring but essential things like that - exciting stuff!
My day was getting significantly better by this stage, and then off I went to Aspire Style in Warwick to have a look at their sale. I have had my eye on the blue Ruby Belle Tea Blossom dress since before Christmas, and my was I disheartened when I arrived and there was no size 10 on the rack... It turned out that the size 10 was in the changing room with the lady that would be buying it a few moments later. I snapped up the 8 and the 12 and hoped that one of them would be okay.
Luckily, this dress comes up quite big and the 8 fits like a dream, so needless to say I am a very happy little lady now!
You will no doubt see many a photo of me in my beautiful new dress, but until then, this is what it looks like.

My day was also made better by bumping into 2 of my most favourite people on the way back from the train station. They made me smile and I look forward to Saturday when we are all going to Kenilworth for a saunter.
I am now going to do a bit of knitting (I have loads to catch up on as I couldn't bring it with me to Ireland in my hand luggage), and then make dinner with my lovely man.
Until next time folks, and sorry for my little moan at the beginning. I will make up for it with loads of photos in my next post. :)

28 minutes to go!

I have been baking and cooking up a storm today.
I have made two loaves of soda bread, the second of which is perfect, the first is sadly in the bin as I remebered when the timer went that I had forgotten the rising agents! Oh well!

I then, with the help of my two sous-chefs, cooked Ohn-No Khao Swe - Burmese Coconut Chicken Noodles.  Although I used turkey, and we couldn't get any rice noodles to make the crispy noodles for the top. The dinner was absolutely delicious though and was devoured!! It would work really well with tofu too. It is an excellent recipe and I thoroughly recommend giving it a go!

And now there are only 25 minutes to go before my boozy banana cake is ready. It won't be warm when we eat it, but it will be baked, ready and waiting for us for breakfast. :)

Pics to come of all of the above - maybe I'll just post the images and not blabber on again.
