Dressember - catch up to Day 7

Hello!! So I have been very ill over the last few days and as a result have been in PJs a lot and not dresses. However, by last night (Dressember day 6) I was feeling well enough to put actual clothes on and leave my bed, so I wore this:

Dress #4 - Green Skirt, black jumper and thick black tights!

Not a dress I realise, but it is a very cute skirt that I bought in France quite some time ago and hardly ever wear. I love the colour - which you can't really see here, but trust me it is a lovely moss green. Please excuse the ill-looking face and slightly crazy hair too!

I am feeling rather guilty about missing two days of Dressember, so to make up for it I am going to have as many outfit changes as possible each day to make up my dress count. :)

Today (Dressember Day 7), was the last day of the Clothes Show Live and also Whirling Wednesday and so I put on a brave face (and some make-up!) and went off to help out (sort of!)
This is what I wore:

Dress #5 - Multi-green halter dress (made by me), thick grey tights, black ankle boots, black cardi. I was also wearing a grey scarf for most of the day, which isn't pictured.
I love this dress - the skirt especially! This was the first dress that I made without using a pattern. I traced a vintage dress that I own, that buttons down the front and has different straps and altered the pattern and ended up with this. I am sure that the original inspiration will find it's way into my Dressember wardrobe at some point, but I must say I prefer this version now! :)

A pic without the cardi
As it was the Clothes Show, I was of course tempted by lots of pretty dresses! I did in fact buy 5 more today, (6 if you count the one I won on Ebay too, but I think I will give that one to a friend as a pressie) but as I was trying some on I came across 2 beauties. They are both handmade one-of-a-kind dresses and I liked both! Especially the second one! Unfortunately they were both a bit too big, but I still tried them on (albeit over my other dress - this happened quite a lot today). Both dresses were very twirly, so they are my contribution to Whirling Wednesday.

Dress #6 - Handmade for Get Sneaky

Dress #7 - Handmade for Get Sneaky
I adore the skirt of the first one, but the bodice was just not doing anything for me. The second one on the other hand was far too big (apologies that you can see my own dress underneath), but I LOVE it! I am going to commission one, it was so beautiful.

I must also say a HUGE thanks to Vicks and Ness for holding my things when I was trying all of those dresses on and giving me very sound advice about which dresses to go for!! Also, these wonderful two ladies got all dolled up today in honour of me doing Dressember!! We forgot to get a photo though and remembered far too late as we were racing for our trains... oh well, you will need to trust me that they both looked FAB!! :) Vicks even got her hair done vintage-style!!

Dressember Day 3

I thought I'd push the petticoat boat out a little farther today, so I wore two under one of my favourite dresses.

Fever Marilyn dress, black petticoat, teal petticoat (made by me), black top (for warmth) vintage belt, crochet earrings (made by me)

This pic is with the cardi and crochet brooch (again made by me) I was wearing sometimes today too

A different angle for a change :)

I used to wear this dress a lot, but it hasn't made it into my regular rotation for a while now - I just love wearing it with the petticoats too.

Sorry for the faces I am pulling in the photos, it was quite early and I was feeling all stuffed up with a cold.
I have no idea what I am going to wear tomorrow, but I am excited about deciding.
I won't be going to the clothes show tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see how dressed up I can be just wandering around Leam.

Dressember Day 2

Today was the first day of the Clothes Show Live and Day 2 of Dressember and I was excited about my outfit for the day. I love purple and I love dressing up!!

Fever Serang dress (thanks Roisin) (and hidden petticoat), vintage hat, half moon earrings from Krakow (and a top underneath again, as it is very very cold today)
Thanks to the lovely Roisin for taking the picture this morning at the train station.
I did have to think twice about wearing the dress hat, but thought that if I could be extravagent anywhere, it would be at the Clothes Show. And I was right, I fitted in fine - although I did get some looks on my way to the train station early this morning, and the people in the vestibule on the train home were probably wishing that I wasn't wearing a petticoat and taking up so much room...
A lady stopped me today and asked me where I got my dress too, which was nice! I can't remember the name of it (all of the Fever dresses have names), but I'm sure Roisin will know..

Here are a few more pics of me in the dress as I worked today at the show.

Dressember Day 1

So Day 1 of Dressember and I chose a dress I have only worn once. It's from Purple at Dorothy Perkins and it is a summer dress, so I layered it up with a long sleeved top and leggings.
I am wearing it with handmade filagree earrings, which you probably can't see in the pic and a big blue belt. I love the skirt of this dress, it is really twirly, so dancing this evening is going to fun!
I have had a few compliments about my outfit today too, which has been great, because I would have normally discounted this dress in my wardrobe because of the high neck (I'm not fond of dresses with really high necks) and summeryness.
Score!!

Also, my wonderful M got me a Christmas pressie yesterday, which I can wear already as it's cold. It's a beautiful new coat, it also twirls and is extremely cosy!! I am one happy lady!! :)

Dressember

Hello!! It's been a long time I realise, but I am back and hope that the challenge I have set myself will help me to blog more often!

So, this year I am participating in Dressember (I had meant to get involved, but had forgotten all about it, so thanks to Roisin for reminding me about it!) - a dress a day for the 31 days of December. The mission is: To wear a dress every day in December 2011, photograph it, upload it, and enjoy an online community to chart our journey. Spectators welcome. Maybe even raise a bit of cash for Action for Children.
It's a great charity and I am excited to be involved.
I pretty much wear dresses all of the time (except for when I go dancing - I have been wearing jeans more and more often for dancing and working from home), but it's usually the same few out of a huge collection, so my personal challenge will be to wear some of those that rarely see anything but the inside of my wardrobe. It'll be difficult to pack for 16 days away over Christmas, but I'm hoping I'll manage somehow! Skirts are allowed too, which is good, as I have quite a few that I haven't worn in a very long time!
So if you see me dressed up to the nines wandering around town buying groceries, you will know why. Please support me if you can!!

I'm really excited about being involved and am looking forward to my outfit planning for the next 31 days.

Until tomorrow!! x
